This takes the cake on some of the crazy website User Agreements. I stumbled across a Slashdot Article that led me to a Techdirt Article (see - why can’t I just get to the damn story!) that led me to a user agreement that just blew me away:

Phoenix just isn’t a place you want to live. It appears that a SWAT team served a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear at Traffic Court. It appears that these idiots just couldn’t serve a warrant, they had to make sure the whole neighborhood knew they where there…

They got dressed at the scene, no swooping in here… Next, they drove an Armored Personnel Carrier through a neighbor’s yard and onto the hood of their car. Next, they fired several shots of tear gas into a home with no warning. The neighborhood panicked because the police force didn’t announce themselves or evacuate the area - many called 911. After the house erupted in flames, a dog attempted to leave the property and was shot with a fire distinguisher to the point where it fled back into the home and later perished. The SWAT team then laughed at one of the owners when she cried for the dead dog.

As for the weapons found, the SWAT team found an antique shotgun and licensed 9mm hand gun. The owner, after his arrest, posted $1,000 bond to return to his $250,000 burned down home and dead dog rotting in the ashes. Full Story

Police Blow Up CD Players In Church

In a reminder of what society has turned itself into by being paranoid by pranks, police panicked and blew up 2 out of 3 CD players taped under the pews of a church that started to play foul music in the middle of the Ash Wed. Mass. Check out the CNN story.

I find it absolutely crazy that our society is so worried about bombs and terrorists that we’re willing to call in the bomb squad over this kind of stuff. Seriously folks, whats next? When the kids in college start making smoke bombs out of beer cans - are we going to call the bomb squad and round up every idiot that’s drunk?

In the most brazen attack since the internet was invented, would be hackers attempted to disrupt online traffic by saturating 23% of the root servers online. According to the AP, the Homeland Security Department confirmed it was monitoring what it called “anomalous” Internet traffic.

Even though the hackers attempted to hide their tracks, this attack appears to have originated from South Korea.

I’ve had people around me all morning talking about this. The above sounds pretty bad, until you break it down. Continue reading…
