New Business Ideas

So, I’ve been considering my House Husband status and have thought of two ideas.

  • One: I’ve given serious thought to developing a B2B2C site (business to business to consumer) but it would be a long, tedious process creating an environment temporarily better than competition. The reason I say temporariliy is because, in no doubt, other competing sites would add certain features to their lineup as quickly as possible.
  • Two: Taking full advantage of my location, friends and blogging background, I’ve started to think about a Travel Video Blog for Europe.

The second option is starting to look more valid to me. Less financial risk, less business risk and the second option - I’ve been traveling across Europe for the last 3.5 years and as a child, I spent 5 years over here as a tourist. I know the nice places to go, I know the crappy places not to go and I have a few friends over here that just might want to jump in with me on this.

My main problem, that I’m going to need to deal with, is paying for the bandwidth of the Video. YouTube is not an option because that would mean anyone on the YouTube network would see the videos without needing to visit my site (I have a domain name thats perfect…), making advertising revenue disappear. The other thing I’m trying to decide is how to approach the sites throughout Europe.

At first, I will probably just bring a camera and talk my way through some of the history of the sites, showing random shots here and there. For the smaller places, this will work. Once I start getting to larger places (Eiffel Tower, Euro Disney, Neuschwanstein (The real Disney Castle), etc, this will be a much harder task because these places don’t like to allow pictures taken of their locations and they usually don’t like to pay for people to come in and create something to drive traffic to them.

I’ve only been thinking about the Vlog for less than 24 hours, so I have some stuff to think of as well as a few people to talk to…
