Recruiters, Again…

Life and Living

After getting my dream job (I work on a website that has a Google Rank better than my own), several things have happened over the last month. Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll be leaving Germany to return back to the US, due to a job change on my wife’s side. While I don’t want to leave my job, I support my family in every way possible. Now, in preparation for this move in the next 3 months, I reactivated my resume on Monster (just Monster). I knew things would quickly get out of hand, but I was surprised to see how quickly. In 48 hours, I’ve received 5 recruitment emails, including one from….Microsoft themselves.

Lets see, Southern CA, Southern FL (I turned down these guys last year based on the employee rants I’ve found online about them), 2 in IL and one in Seattle/Boston (MSFT). Now, out of ALL of these offers, only MSFT has managed to figure out that I only want to move to either Oregon or Washington. As much of an honor as it was to get a larger recruiter from MSFT to look at my resume then contact me, I had to turn it down. They’re seeking someone that has much more experience than I do.

If this continues though, I’ll be flooded with recruiter email again and again. I’m guessing that I’ll get somewhere around 20 a week. This was how it was when I disabled my monster profile. This time, I won’t respond, except a choice few. Last time, I ended up losing sleep a few times over a few recruiters that changed my resume around. If you want my resume (unless you’re MSFT or Google), you’ll get a hard coded PDF. I use to wonder why people would say that they only send recruiters PDF’s, but now I know. I had my resume changed into a few things I’m not and it gets really old pretty quickly - especially when I get on the phone and sound like an idiot after a recruiter changes my resume around.

Oh, and one last thing, I hate when recruiters play cloak and dagger with me to try to hide the client. I shocked the crap out of one recruiter when I named his client before he told me. If you don’t tell me who your client is and I’m interested enough, I will try my hardest find who they are. In this case, it took me an hour.

Anyway - anyone know of any good Web programming or SharePoint admin jobs in OR or WA?
