Network Connectivity

SUSE 9.3 Pro

Problem
Network Connectivity very slow on a DFI NF4 LanParty motherboard. (SUSE 9.3 pro)

Ping revealed 50% packetloss. Traceroute couldn’t make up its mind where the loss actually was.

The Fix
After hours of going through all the settings, I adjusted everything I could think of. MTU, DNS servers, IP’s, etc. No other computers on network had a problem.

I decided that since my NVidia NIC had worked perfectly before with the same install, I would pull the DFI Gigabite NIC… Problem solved.
(Open YaST2, Network Devices, Network Card - Under “Already Configured Devices” hit “Change” then click on the DFI GB NIC and “Delete”. Hit finished and try again.)

Yet another oddity of Linux…
